Incumbents with a long history of animal advocacy have remarkable value in the State House
Montpelier, VT — Animal Wellness Action revealed its first suite of endorsements in the Vermont 2024 election. It includes five Vermont legislators with experience serving both Vermont’s people and animals in the State House.

“These candidates have not only talked the talk but walked the walk as well,” said Will Marlier, Vermont state director for Animal Wellness Action. “Over the course of the last legislative session, each of these individuals displayed incredible morals and genuine concern for the wellbeing of Vermont’s animals through the bills they sponsored and supported.”
Each of the candidates has recently sponsored or supported a bill that would have improved animal welfare in the State of Vermont. Rep. Bos-Lun co-sponsored H.626, an act that became law and will establish a Division of Animal Welfare tasked with investigating animal cruelty and upholding humane treatment of animals across the state Sen. Chittenden co-sponsored S.111, an act that would have prohibited recreational trapping. Rep. Krasnow sponsored H.524, an act that would have prohibited cosmetic animal tests. Rep. Satcowitz sponsored H.812, an act that would have modernized the way the state’s endangered species list is managed. Sen. White co-sponsored S.258, an act that would have reformed the Fish & Wildlife Board and prohibited the hounding of coyotes.
Rep. Emilie Krasnow shared in a recent Animal Wellness Action candidate survey that she is “committed to supporting not only our human constituents but also recognizing that animals are integral members of our community,” she said. “They, too, deserve our advocacy and care.”
Marlier said the following of her survey response, “Rep. Krasnow’s response is indicative of the mindset all five of these legislators have when serving their communities. The fact that they have experience putting that mindset to work in our legislature is all the more impressive. Incumbents with a long history of animal advocacy have remarkable value in the State House.”
“As a long-time Vermonter myself, I can’t think of a better feeling than knowing my local representatives share my values,” said Marlier. “Make sure you vote for someone who reflects yours!”
