Congressman deserves support for steadfast leadership on numerous animal welfare issues.
Washington D.C. — Animal Wellness Action, a national policy and political organization seeking to enhance and advance legal protections for animals, has endorsed Chris Pappas for reelection in the race for New Hampshire’s 1st congressional district.
The group lauded his strong advocacy and leadership on numerous animal welfare issues. He co-sponsored the FDA Modernization Act 3.0, H.R. 7248; the Greyhound Protection Act, H.R. 3894; and the SAFE Act, H.R. 3475 in this Congress. In prior terms, he’s been a very consistent supporter of the wide range of animal welfare reforms.
“Chris Pappas is one of the leaders on animal welfare in the U.S. Congress,” said Wayne Pacelle, president of Animal Wellness Action. “He understands that cruelty to animals is wrong and that it’s typically bound up with other forms of social violence and static thinking.”
Pacelle expressed special appreciation that earlier this year, Rep. Pappas voted against an irresponsible bill the House Republican leadership brought up on the House floor that would have weakened Endangered Species Act protections by prematurely delisting gray wolves in the lower 48 states. Hopefully, this bill will not be passed in the U.S. Senate.
Pacelle also applauded Rep. Pappas for supporting provisions in the fiscal year 2024 appropriations bill for the enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act, Horse Protection Act, Humane Methods of Slaughter Act, and federal anti-animal fighting laws.
“We urge voters in the 1st congressional district of New Hampshire to back Rep. Pappas this fall,” Pacelle said. “He’s fighting for mainstream animal welfare policies in Congress.”
