Congressman deserves support for steadfast commitment to animal welfare.
Washington D.C. — Animal Wellness Action, a national policy and political organization seeking to enhance and advance legal protections for animals, has endorsed Rep. Lance Gooden for re-election in the race for Texas’s 5th congressional district.
The group lauded him for supporting crucial animal welfare legislation including the Fighting Inhumane Gambling and High-Risk Trafficking (FIGHT) Act (H.R. 2742) to crack down on the criminal practices of dogfighting and cockfighting, the Minks in Narrowly Kept Spaces (MINKS) are Superspreaders Act (H.R. 7670) to address the public health threat of domestic mink farming, the Greyhound Protection Act (H.R. 3894) to phase out greyhound racing at U.S. racetracks, the FDA Modernization Act 3.0 (H.R. 7248) to promote alternatives to animal testing in drug development, and the Kangaroo Protection Act (H.R. 4995) to stop the sale of products made using kangaroo skins and other kangaroo parts.
“Lance Gooden is one of Congress’s most important and determined leaders on animal welfare,” said Wayne Pacelle, president of Animal Wellness Action. “He understands that cruelty to animals is wrong and that it’s often linked to other forms of lawlessness and social violence. We urge all voters who care about animal welfare in the 5th congressional district of Texas to back Rep. Gooden this fall.”
