SPENCER COUNTY — Animal Wellness Action today announced a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the killing of a dog in Spencer County, Indiana.
The case, under investigation by the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office, involves a Doberman pinscher found tied to a pipeline marker and shot in a secluded area west of Grandview on October 31, 2025, according to local authorities.
“The cruelty displayed in this case is deeply disturbing — this dog was clearly targeted, transported to a remote site, tied up, and shot,” said Wayne Pacelle, president for Animal Wellness Action. “We are encouraging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward. This reward reflects our commitment to ensuring justice is done and to help law enforcement root out animal cruelty wherever it occurs.”
Investigators report that the dog was a young adult male in good health before the crime and was found without a microchip. The leash and collar used to tie the animal were recovered as evidence. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office at(812) 649-2286.
“We ignore cases of cruelty at our peril,” Pacelle added. “Animal cruelty typically precedes violent outbursts against people. We stand with Spencer County in creating safer communities.”
