Will lead key initiatives to advance animal protection public policy.

Washington, D.C. – Animal Wellness Action and the Animal Wellness brands are glad to announce Holly Gann has joined the group as director of federal affairs. In her role, she will oversee federal legislative and regulatory efforts and will work to advance key initiatives to achieve the nation’s most important policy goals for dogs, cats, horses, and other animals.

Gann previously worked at The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society Legislative Fund for more than half a decade, bringing numerous victories to the organization and its affiliates during her tenure. She developed successful strategic campaigns for a number of priority federal policy initiatives, including issues such as horse protection, protecting domestic violence victims and their pets, ending the dog meat trade, and advancing anti-cruelty legislation. Gann has also worked on several political campaigns. Upon finishing her Bachelor’s degree she founded a grassroots organization that successfully raised awareness about animal cruelty in Florida and spurred positive changes to increase enforcement in criminal cruelty cases.

Gann is a graduate of the University of Florida, having completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2006. She earned her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School where she specialized in Animal Law. She was awarded the Animal Law Leadership Award during its inaugural year, the Animal Law Scholarship, Associate Editor of the Year for the Animal Law Journal, and clerked for the Center for Animal Law Studies.

Holly Gann is the most hard-working, dedicated, talented, and effective lobbyist I’ve worked with to help animals, and we wanted to hire the best,” said Marty Irby, executive director at Animal Wellness Action. “We’re committed to setting a new standard and the highest work ethic to advance federal policies that protect the voiceless we all care so much about, and I have the utmost confidence that having Holly join our team will accomplish that goal.”
