Congressman deserves support for steadfast leadership on numerous animal welfare issues.
Washington D.C. — Animal Wellness Action, a national policy and political organization seeking to enhance and advance legal protections for animals, has endorsed the reelection of Dave Joyce in the race for Ohio’s 14th congressional district.
The group lauded his strong advocacy and leadership on numerous animal welfare issues. He co-sponsored the FIGHT Act (H.R. 2742), the Greyhound Protection Act (H.R. 3894), and the SAFE Act (H.R. 3475).
“Dave Joyce is one of the leaders on animal welfare in the U.S. Congress,” said Wayne Pacelle, president of Animal Wellness Action. “He understands that cruelty to animals is wrong and that it’s typically bound up with other forms of social violence and static thinking.”
Pacelle offered special appreciation for Rep. Joyce’s leadership as a sponsor of bipartisan legislation to crack down on heinous acts of animal cruelty. Joyce authored bipartisan legislation, the Animal Cruelty Enforcement (ACE) Act (H.R. 8923), which would establish a dedicated Animal Cruelty Crimes Section within the U.S. Department of Justice. Taking this step would enhance the ability of the federal government to investigate, prosecute, and enforce felony animal cruelty crimes. This commonsense proposal is urgently needed.
“We urge voters in the 14th congressional district of Ohio to back Rep. Joyce this fall,” Pacelle said.
