Congresswoman deserves support for steadfast commitment to animal welfare
Washington, D.C. — Animal Wellness Action, a national policy and political organization seeking to enhance and advance legal protections for animals, has endorsed Rep. Sharice Davids for re-election in the race for Kansas’s 3rd congressional district.
Noting her key seat on the House Agriculture Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Farm Bill and most animal-related federal legislation, the group praised Rep. Davids for signing a letter opposing the Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act (H.R. 4417), which would federally overturn multiple voter-approved state laws governing the humane housing of farm animals.
This term, she also co-sponsored a wide range of animal protection bills, including the Fighting Inhumane Gambling and High-Risk Trafficking (FIGHT) Act (H.R. 2742) to address organized dogfighting and cockfighting, the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act (H.R. 3475) to end horse slaughter for human consumption, the Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act (H.R. 3090) to stop the abusive practice of horse soring, the Puppy Protection Act (H.R. 1624) to enhance care standards for commercial breeding dogs, and the Greyhound Protection Act (H.R. 3894) to phase out greyhound racing in the United States, and the Better Collaboration, Accountability, and Regulatory Enforcement (CARE) for Animals Act (H.R. 5041) to improve enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act and hold violators accountable.
“We urge voters in the 3rd congressional district of Kansas to back Sharice Davids this fall,” Pacelle said. “She is passionate about animal welfare and fighting for mainstream policies to protect both domesticated and wild animals.”
